Taking Over

Like a child

I have a tendency

Not to make a move

Without looking up

For a nod

Or a trickle

Of approval

From either parent.

Getting their OK

And advice

Was easy and grand.

Both of my parents

Are now at rest

Leaving me to learn

To ask my many friends

For help, that way

Becoming closer

To them, at the same time

Getting accustomed to

Reaching out to find answers

Then arriving at some good

Honest, decisive decisions.
