Fading Memories

The history of my dad's

1958 black Ford is all but forgotten

Yet, in his records it can be found

Written with a strong hand

Listing every expense.

That history of one car

Multiplied by millions

Would give the fair history of all cars

Indeed Dad's black automobile

Quickly loses its status.

I am the same as Dad's Ford,

Known by my relatives and friends

My biography may be enjoyed-

Then forgotten as my life melts

Into history with the countless millions

Who have also lived their lives.
