Take It As They Come

My mother's clock ticks on

Today is like any other day,

Or is it?

Weather changes

Coats change accordingly

Between heavy and rain

Then a warm day is slipped in

Like the old joker

In a deck of cards.

I listen

For the soft rhythmic tic-toc

Of the wooden kitchen clock

Only then, when I relax

The blinds are raised

And the great outdoors

Becomes a part of my world.
